Angelic awareness - Uriel

This mode of awareness may be considered as the inherent tendency within the psyche to redeem itself. It does this in relationship to negative conditions such as remorse, despair and the like, which imprison the inner nature in a self-made hell. Uriel has been represented both as the power that presides in the infernal regions and as the archangel of salvation. He is said to have buried Adam and to have led Abraham "up" out of Ur. His symbol in the Church is an open hand holding a flame, as he is also thought to have been the fiery spirit at the gate of Eden.
