Anaesthesia
Description
This is an abnormal insensitivity to bodily feelings, commonly induced by the administering of a drug so as to deaden pain, when the effect may be local or general depending on the means of administering of the drug. General anaesthesia is normally associated with total loss of consciousness. An immunity to pain can arise spontaneously or through training, as in the case of extraordinary states of consciousness achieved in rites and rituals.
