Alpha wave consciousness

There is some correlation between states of consciousness and brain-wave patterns registered on an electroencephalograph (EEG) reading. Alpha wave dominance is recorded when there is a feeling of euphoria, when the mind and body are in a state of nerve relaxation, and also when there is a calm state of high awareness. The alpha wave state is therefore associated with altered and higher states of consciousness and various meditation states. Voluntary inducement of the alpha wave state is practised by many individuals using biofeedback techniques.
