Alchemical imagination (Esotericism)

The imagination (as distinct from fantasy) is the basis for the major practice of alchemy towards cultivating the golden instants which occasionally illuminate ordinary life. Through such imagination the continuing creation of the world is reproduced within the individual. The dream is expanded beyond the limitations of individuality to encompass the cosmos. Finally the question is raised "Who dreams". The practitioner comes to see with the eyes of the spirit, as God dreams the phenomena of nature in sustaining its processes.
