Al-Hamid (Sufism)

Description

The believer is aware of Allah as the most praiseworthy. He is to be honoured with respect and thankfulness through speech, through action, through one's very existence, as the source of all gifts and perfection. Performing one's duty when it is due every hour of one's life brings material benefit and spiritual joy and wisdom, it is manifest praise. The opposite is denial and leads to being cursed by all creation.

Context

A mode of mystical awareness in the Sufi tradition associated with the fifty-sixth of the ninety-nine names of Allah.
