Al-Ahad (Sufism)
Description
The believer is aware of Allah as unity, the one in which all is united. In this unity, names, attributes and their relations disappear in the very essence. Although expression of uncreated Allah in created man is impossible, immersion in the one "I" which is one's essence, forgetting the multiplicity of "I's" or qualities which one ascribes to one's self, leads to manifestation of unity as far as is possible in man.
Context
A mode of mystical awareness in the Sufi tradition associated with the sixty-seventh of the ninety-nine names of Allah.
