Agnosia

Description

Despite correctly identifying the properties of a object, an individual is unable to connect these properties with what the object is. This inability to connect may correspond to only one of the senses, perception through the other senses being perfectly normal. The condition is caused by brain lesions, the senses themselves are working normally. As opposed to synesthesia, where there seems to be diffusion from one sensory input channel to another, in agnosia normal interaction between channels is prevented. One channel is damaged, so that information received through it may be conceptualized but not at a high enough level.
