Abstraction
Description
The state of normality for an adult is characterized by the ability to develop concepts. Such a process of abstraction may be: generalization (separation of essential characteristics of a group of things, ideas, etc, from the apparently inessential); isolation (consideration of one specific aspect); and idealization (the construction of an ideal model following generalization and isolation).
