Syncretism

Description

1. The conscious process of uniting or harmonizing conflicting principles, particularly in religion or philosophy. When this is done without critical examination or real logical unity it is more of the quality of a fusion or mix.

2. The developmental process of historical growth within a religion by planned or unplanned accretion and coalescence of different forms of belief and practice through interaction with other religions and cultures.
