Organic functional multiplicity

Description

At different times, or simultaneously, an organ in a biological system may perform two or more functions, e.g. the human hand which probes, grasps, strikes, defends, signals, makes music, soothes or helps heal. In evolution, changes in many organs and structures show variations in function.
