Biosphere

The layer constituting a shell around the surface of the earth, bounded on the inner side by dense solids and on the outer side by the vacuum of space, containing the whole range of living organisms for which air and water are essential. The biosphere is the largest ecosystem and is composed of interlinked eco-subsystems.
