Intervenes between two parties for the purpose of reconciliation. Mediators are usually an intermediate agency and not directly connected with the two parties or persons concerned. Mediators may help people talk through and settle their own disputes over a particular issue. Some mediators act as a go-between to completing a particular job. Mediators may be found in the work place where an employer and an employee have a dispute over the terms of contract for a particular job. The mediator enables the employer and employee to talk through their differences and reach a conclusion they are both willing to act out. A mediator might also be a go between enabling another to go through a series of legal procedures to reach some particular need. The mediator role provides society with an avenue for reconciling differences among people where direct one to one dialogue is unable to reach a positive conclusion.
