Financing charities

Description:

Giving money to benevolent activities, especially organizations and institutions designed to help those in need.

Claim:

Financing charity permits care of those social groups and nations which the contemporary social system omits. As such, it is the means by which societies become able to extend their care.

Counter Claim:

Financing is an inadequate substitute for direct human service, a way of "buying off" people for whom no helpful programme is forthcoming.
