Implementation: The Gende people at Yandera in upper Chimbu Valley, New Guinea, feed a naturally occurring substance called mondono to pigs to increase fertility, cure illness and increase fat production. Mondono is a whitish powder containing less than 1.5 percent organic matter. [It is] mainly quartz, with some gibbsite, chlorite, albite, and muscovite in diminishing proportions.
