Identifying contaminated sites
Context:
Governments should establish and maintain inventories, including computerized inventories, of hazardous wastes and their treatment/disposal sites, as well as of contaminated sites that require rehabilitation, and assess the exposure and the risk to human health and the environment; they should also identify the measures required to clean up the disposal sites. Industry should make the necessary information available. Implementation:
This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities. Values:
