Using plastic packaging for food


50% of food packed in Europe is packed in plastics.


Plastics keep food fresher for longer. More often than not, they remove the need for artificial additives and preservatives. Food wastage before reaching the consumer in industrialized countries is only 2%. This reaches 50% in developing countries where packaging, refrigeration and distribution are not as sophisticated.
