Providing education on hazardous waste management in government and industry

Implementation

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

Agenda 21 recommends developing training and education programmes for men and women in industry and government aimed at specific real-life problems – for example, planning and implementing hazardous waste minimization programmes, conducting hazardous material audits or establishing appropriate regulatory programmes.
