Improving cooperation among agencies collecting hydrological data

Establishing and maintaining effective cooperation at the national level between the various agencies responsible for collection, storage and analysis of hydrological data.

This strategy features in the framework of Agenda 21 as formulated at UNCED (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), now coordinated by the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and implemented through national and local authorities.

The International Hydrological Programme (IHP) is concerned with developing the science and technology of hydrology through cooperative programme development and forums, with an eye to promoting wise use of water resources within an environmentally sound context.
