  • Declaring rights of women

Description

Affirming the principle of equality in duties and rights between men and women. Intensifying political awareness programmes regarding women's rights and encouraging women to exercise these rights at all levels of political, social, professional and labour representation.

Implementation

At the World Conference on Human Rights in 1993 in Vienna, more than 900 women's NGO's from around the world, as well as intergovernmental organizations such as UNIFEM, put women's human rights on the agenda. This strategic objective also formed part of the Platform for Action of the UN Fourth World Conference for Women (Beijing, August 1995).
