Providing transport
Transport activities play a significant part in life today. Transport provides access to goods and services, opportunities for individual mobility and better quality of life, and plays an important role in the economic and social development of communities.
In 1996, the most mobile of all European Union citizens were the Danes, when it came to transport by road, rail and river. Each of them covered 41.3 km per day on average. The Greeks and Spaniards came last, with less than 28 km per day.
