Reinventing citizenship

Context:
It is important to recognize the trend towards fragmented citizenship. There are now various types of citizenship, including 'civic firms" and the "citizen employees", local citizenship, regional or world citizenship, multicultural citizenship, civic consumers or the opposite, passive or active citizenship and Internet citizens ("netizens").
Claim:
1. In a period dominated by globalization and the market society, both identified as forces generating the "confrontation" with democracy, citizenship and solidarity, is it not a matter of unavoidable urgency to devise fresh approaches to trade, cohesion and action, based on "reinvented citizenship" and new individual and collective human rights?< 2. In these circumstances, it is becoming difficult for citizens to "live together", insofar as their social environment is characterized by the separation between democracy, citizenship and solidarity. Civil society is reacting with increasingly insistent demands that the public good, which has so often been forgotten and is the only source of justice, be brought back into all activities.

3. Does the road to solidarity not lie int he invention of a "new citizen", providing scope for promotion of a new social contract.
