Campaigning against chlorine and its products

Context:
The PVC industry in Europe has committed to sustainable development on building materials, and to increase recycling.
Implementation:
The use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in Europe has been the subject of many protests from Greenpeace, has been studied by numerous organizations in the last two years. Several countries have banned the material in toys for small children. The EC is determining whether it should issue a directive restricting use of the popular material.
Claim:
***.
Counter Claim:
PVC is examined in many ways and compared for many purposes with alternatives by scientific institutes for governments and industries, not involved in the chlorine/PVC discussion. Again and again it is proven that it doesn't cause more harm than any other (even less examined) alternative. Neither in production, neither in use, neither in (accidental) fires or deposits.
