The International Council on Archives is promoting activities in the field of records and archives management on international level and developing relations between archivists of all countries and between all institutions which are concerned with the administration or preservation of records and archives, or with the professional training of archivists. Its study and research activities include: standardization of descriptors; impact of informatics on the theory and practice of archivology, development and modernization of archives, archival automation and archival processing of machine readable records.
