Providing loans for education

Implementation:
In thirty-three years of operations in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has made 167 loans for US$2,700 million to finance education, science and technology projects costing a total of $5,300 million. Loans for education in 1993 include among others: $125 million to modernization of basic education and $15 million for a youth job training programme in Venezuela; $6.3 million and $46.5 million to primary education improvements in Paraguay; and $28 million to technical education improvements in Uruguay.
