Unnecessary open-womb plastic surgery

Incidence
Under instructions from the mother, in 1994 a South American doctor performed open-womb plastic surgery on a foetus to correct a congenital hare-lip. The operation was apparently successful. The baby was born prematurely, however, and subsequently died.
Counter-claim
Foetal tissue does not scar and foetal plastic surgery represents the opportunity for breakthrough in repair of congenital defects which cost so many people suffering throughout their lives.
