Unemployment caused by environmental conservation

Nature
Environmental groups and conservationists have hurt the traditional economies of native peoples, increasing unemployment. For example, the banning of seal hunting has ruined the Inuit people in Greenland. Conservation of whales, even those which are not in danger of becoming extinct, has driven nearly all whale hunters into other fields of work or unemployment.
Claim
Environmental conservation groups, their methods and goals frequently are as ham fisted, as insensitive to the needs of people and as narrow minded as any government or resource exploiting individual, company or government agency. They create as many problems as the, so called, solve.
