Underweight

Nature

An underweight person is a person whose body weight is considered too low to be healthy. A person who is underweight is malnourished.

Incidence 
In 1996, in the European Union as a whole, a higher proportion of women was underweight than men - 15% and 5% respectively. This was the situation in all EU member states. France had the highest proportion - roughly one in four - of underweight women. Belgium and the Netherlands had the highest proportion of underweight men.
