Nature 
There exist a number of territories which from the UN perspective can be considered as 'non-self-governing', according to the obligations of Chapter XI of the UN Charter and General Assembly resolution 1514 (XV), although this may be disputed by the administering government. The latter may also refuse to recognize any UN jurisdiction in the matter.
