Subjective cultural ranking

Nature
There is a tendency to view different cultures as superior or inferior to one another and to one's own. This blocks appreciation of the gifts of other cultures, which are then only made use of in either grasping or condescending ways. This restricts relationships among peoples and results in societies becoming uniformly mediocre and unable to use the contributions that outsiders and foreigners could make.
