Selective perception of facts

Nature
The selective perception of facts that support prejudices and the blindness to facts that disprove them, play important roles in the accumulation and spread of superstitions, falsehoods and lies in society.
Counter-claim
The interaction of the senses and the brain is structured such that all stimuli is selectively perceived and must be to prevent sensory overload. All human beings have prejudices and are blind to some dimensions of life. When this selectivity results in disfunctional individuals within a specific social setting then a new, but equally rigid, selective screen is required.
