Schizmogenesis

Nature
Cleavage within a group resulting from behaviour associated with different social roles. The process of separation is cumulative as the role behaviour tends to continue to produce reactions that intensify the corresponding patterns of behaviour. Complementary schismogenesis is when one behaviour -- for example, male aggressive, boasting and competitive behaviour -- is associated with the opposite type of behaviour, such as female submissive, quiet and cooperative behaviour. Symmetrical schismogenesis is the process of role behaviour resulting in similar, rather than contrary, behaviour, as when aggressiveness stimulates aggressiveness.
