Sacrifice of present generations for the future

Name(s):
Sacrifice of the present to traditions of the past
Claim
Both Christianity (as well as other religions) and Marxism have in practice far too often sacrificed the present generation to both the past and the future. Christianity has been more guilty than Marxism of sacrificing the present to the past. Both have been equally guilty of sacrificing the present to the future in the expectation of future rewards, if not for the individual then at least for descendents and the community at large.
