Ineffective religious dialogue

Name(s):
Religious monologue
Inability to bear witness
Claim
The danger persists that churches and their experts are deplorably unaware that the drafting of documents in missionary conferences and the careful work given to getting terms right, all tends to become an end in itself and thus a monologue. The continuous exercise of many Christians who put their missionary obligations on paper can be a surrogate for actual witness in concrete human situations. The grandiose imagination and the mutual encouragement to be faithful ambassadors of Christ are in fact burdens and obstacles in the meeting of neighbours of other faiths and of little or no faith.
