Incidence

Volatile organic compounds (VOC), excluding methane, comprise a wide range of substances which are organic compounds of carbon, and sufficiently volatile to exist as vapour in the atmosphere. The principal sources vary according to the particular substance. Hydrocarbons mainly arise as a result of the evaporation or incomplete combustion of petrol in vehicles.
