Nature
An individual may have the malformation of having both male and female sexual characteristics. This may occur in any of four ways: bilateral, an ovary and testis on each side; lateral, an ovary on one side and a testis on the other; ovatesticular, an ovatestis on one or both sides; unilateral, combination of an ovatestis on one side with an ovary or testis on the other. Malformation may occur in the embryo or in puberty.
