Culturally inappropriate names

Incidence
In China in 1996 some 2,000 companies were ordered to change their names from versions with vulgar, feudalistic, bizarre and Western-sounding connotations, perceived to be undermining national culture; some Western-sounding were rejected because they appealed to the prejudice of status conscious people who preferred Western goods.
