Abandonment of high nature value farmland

Nature
The abandonment of high nature value farmland without provisions for continued grazing, is a major threat, like intensification.

Both intensification and abandonment would lead to loss of biodiversity in areas with high natural values, unless adequate accompanying policies are put in place, in other words, unless, for example, adequate (agri-)environmental or other measures are adopted simultaneously or, better, in advance.
