Aerospace monopolies

Nature

Aerospace production is concentrated in the control of a small group of monopolies in the main capitalist countries, with the USA monopolies accounting for over 70% of the world's production. As military contracts are the best source of revenue for these monopolies (they are especially prosperous in time of war), they are continually competing amongst themselves to win government contracts, which are often awarded as a result of contacts in the military establishment and not as a result of objective evidence. While aerospace material could sometimes be supplied at a lower cost and higher quality by non-monopolized organizations, the smaller suppliers are overlooked because they lack the necessary influence.
