Problem

Distortion of international trade by discriminatory requirements with respect to marks of product origin

Nature:

Compulsory requirements for labelling products with the country of origin create an unwarranted restriction on trade, partly because of the added costs of fulfilling the marking requirements of each importing country, and partly because the legibility requirement often significantly reduces the attractiveness of the product.
