Problem

Cloning of human cells

Other Names:
Inadequate safety guidelines for transplantation
Unethical development of tissue-derived therapies
Nature:
Research in tissue-derived therapies is booming, including skin replacement for burn victims and techniques that turn human cells into tiny pharmaceutical factories. But such tissue based therapies carry the risk that they might transmit infectious diseases when the cells are removed from one person and then transplanted into another, or their product administered to a stranger.
