Reverse transfer of technology
Other Names: Brain drain to industrialized countries
Claim: The development process of developing countries is crucially dependent on the availability of highly trained personnel. Skill formation and its efficient utilization is a critical component of the social, economic and technological transformation of those countries. The continuing outflow of skilled personnel from developing countries therefore seriously hampers their development and has implications of global concern. Such outflows constitute a transfer of productive resources from the countries of emigration to the countries of immigration. Industrialized countries need technologically developed customers. One of the main factors hindering such development of developing countries is reverse transfer of technology.
