Problem

Conscientious objection at the workplace

Incidence:

A Muslim who refused work in the food industry to avoid handling pork meat; a Jehovah's Witness who refused to be transferred within a company to armaments manufacture; a merchant navy officer who demanded that his union refuse to unload nuclear missiles; a school teacher who refused a position to teach in a religiously-affiliated school. All these cases in several countries were acknowledged by unemployment compensation commissions to be justifiable exercises of personal conscience.
