Problem

Apathy of youth

Other Names:
Unmotivated youth stance
Limited youth engagement
Misdirected youth engagement
Nature:
Confronted with changes in most areas of society, young people are seen as increasingly apathetic, self-oriented and unambitious. Whereas most of their parents grew up during the Second World War and fought hard, with the notions of determination, sacrifice, and national purpose, to rebuild their own lives and societies, many of today's youth see little purpose in such goals and choose to adapt a basic conformism to role, but one that is carried out with the least possible effort and a minimum of commitment.
