Problem

Inappropriate accommodations for single people

Nature:

In modern cities it is almost impossible for architects to build houses suitable for one person to live in because zoning codes and banking practices prohibit very small building plots. Nor does the existing housing market contain many houses or apartments specifically built for one person. Men and women who choose to live alone tend to live in larger houses and apartments originally built for two people or for families, yet for one person such large dwellings are are unwieldy, hard to live in and hard to look after; and lack the compactness and simplicity of the dwelling specifically designed for one person.
