Problem

Political schism

Other Names:
Political dissent
Nature:

Fragmentation of political beliefs within a party, leading to factions and the development of new small political parties, brings political instability. It may also lead to political disintegration, repression, revolution, dictatorship or possible anarchy, foreign intervention, or social breakdown. Equally, such schism may result in a multi-party government with one party in power for a long period, such as has occurred in France.
