Incidence: According to a 1999 report, for most Europeans the ideal working week was a 34-hour week, as against the 39 hours worked on average by employees and the self-employed, taken together.
Claim: People have lost the commitment to work, to have a vocation.
Counter Claim: In France, a cut from 39 to 35 hours a week would create a million extra jobs over five years.
