Experimental exposure of animals to radiation

Nature

In order to determine the acceptable levels of radiation exposure for humans, animals are exposed to both mild and severe doses of radiation. Radiation is also used on rodents, dogs and monkeys to discover the physical effects of induced cancers.

Incidence

In the UK in 1986 and 1987, 686 experiments were performed on animals using exposure to ionizing radiation.
