Counterfeit machine parts

The use of substandard counterfeit machine parts is becoming alarmingly commonplace in both business and government. Counterfeit ball bearings, nuts and bolts, valves and circuit breakers are smuggled substandard goods or else they are used items bought cheaply from scrap metal dealers and refurbished or given a coat of paint and sold as new. The parts and fasteners make construction and machine operation prone to dangerous accidents.
