The practice or belief in a system of principles governing conduct, or the act of moralizing, may be an expression of religious intolerance, nationalism, or conformism against new thinking or ways of life. It may support the ethic of the superior morality of the wealthy against the inferior principles of the poor or the ethic of the inherent superiority of the poor. It may support racism, discrimination against women, against minorities, and against any deviation from the norms of those in control. It may be used to justify militarism or acts of violence; propaganda is usually heavily endowed with moralism.
