With the astounding divorce rates and numbers of women choosing careers over wedlock in the industrialized world, the married woman is slowly joining the social ranks as a minority. Married women have been criticized by some for abandoning their independence and supporting patriarchal domination. It is a shame that marital status has become a public gauge of individual worth, intelligence and potential for happiness.
